Fiercely independent, though struggling, Texas P.I. Mavis Davis rates missing persons cases high on her list, second only to murder. After being hired by a Galveston attorney to track down a deadbeat antiques dealer who failed to pay her hefty fee, Mavis discovers a body in a box. Tasked with finding the killer, and the money, Mavis must keep her head down or be arrested for tampering in an active police investigation. More importantly, can Mavis avoid becoming the next victim?
